Amanda C. Bauch’s diverse experiences as a writer, editor, and teacher contribute to her ability to help writers present their best work to the world—one of her greatest joys in life. Although she enjoys working with authors from almost any genre, nonfiction is her primary area of expertise. She has a BA in English literature from Ithaca College and an MFA in creative writing from Lesley University.

Over the past few years, Amanda helped HarperCollins launch two new nonfiction imprints, HarperCollins Leadership and Harper Horizon, where she worked on dozens of titles, including several national bestsellers.

Amanda’s formal editing career began in college, where she served as chief copy editor of her undergraduate alma mater’s award-winning weekly newspaper. Other editorial experience included work with two online literary magazines specializing in fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and graphic narrative. Additionally, she assisted master’s degree and PhD students with successfully completing their theses or dissertations and prepared articles intended for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Amanda’s own fiction and nonfiction has appeared in MOTIF: Writing by Ear, Empowerment4Women: The Online Magazine, Tainted Mirror: An Anthology, Bent Pin Quarterly, Writer Advice, The Hiss Quarterly, and 30 Points of View. Amanda’s work has also received awards or honorable mention in several respected writing contests. She was a contributing author to English Composition II: Writing about Nonfiction and the lead author of Introduction to Literature. Her other works in progress include a memoir, a contemporary adult novel, a romance novella series, and a young adult novel—and several shorter pieces are always manifesting.

For several years, Amanda taught various English and writing classes as an adjunct instructor at different institutions and worked as an instructional designer to develop online courses.
