The editor reads the manuscript on-screen and makes detailed, easy-to-find notes within the text pinpointing what’s working well and areas for improvement. Suggestions include explaining errors or weaknesses and pointing out missed opportunities. The editor’s remarks cover both content—structure, plot, character, dialogue and so forth—and style. Overall notes at the end summarize the current state of the manuscript.

Other Considerations

There are no changes made in the text with annotation, so you are free to accept or deny the editor’s suggestions as you see fit, which is very useful for writers wanting to recognize and learn their own patterns and how to edit themselves.

Pricing

For manuscripts greater than 50,000 words, the fee for the Manuscript Annotation is $3.00 per page with a page counting as 250 words. For shorter works, please see the scale below:
