The first touch of fall is in the air, and that means it must be time for National Novel Writing Month. Since 1998, NaNoWriMo has challenged authors around the world to write a minimum of 50,000 words of original fiction during the month of November. It's a caffeine-fueled writing adventure that grows every year. In 2008, over 21,000 authors won the challenge, and well over 110,000 people participated. We here at TED are excited to lend our support to NaNoWriMo and will be donating $5 of every Manuscript Critique to NaNoWriMo's nonprofit, The Office of Letters & Light, to encourage "ambitious acts of the imagination." NaNoWriMo participants can receive valuable feedback on their novels and help NaNoWriMo at the same time.

Continuing the theme, our October Between the Lines is chock full of NaNoWrimo content. Staffer Kristi Jenkins (an 8-year NaNo veteran) will be attending their San Francisco write-a-thon (dubbed the "Night of Writing Dangerously"), and we'll be contributing fun writing-themed swag the NoWD goody bags. And, because we can't get enough of all things NaNo around here, we have launched a special NaNoWriMo page on our web site. This is a one-stop shop for writing tips, inspiration, and special offers on TED services for NaNoWriMo particpants. Stop putting off writing that novel and Come join the fun!

Author Testimonials

I feel like its been very positive, especially when I read through my earliest drafts. Jen Howard and Catherine Knepper had to sift through a lot of muck and yet their reports were so positive and helpful. I look forward to working with Jen in the future. She has instilled the mentality in me that I can't just pick up a pen and wing it. There are no shortcuts to writing a novel. Basically, I feel like I've learned more than I can put into words. Thank you.
