This service was designed to be highly flexible and is easily tailored to accommodate the scope of the feedback desired, the author’s budget for the review, and the preferred method of feedback. It’s ideal for informal coaching on just about any topic and also addressing ongoing developmental efforts requiring a good deal of back and forth, or for our editors to provide assistance on matters not addressed by flat-rate services.

What To Expect

Ongoing communication with and help from your editor with whatever small or big sections of your manuscript need work. Feedback can be provided by phone, e-mail, notes in the manuscript, or any combination that best suits you. If notes, the editor will write up a set of notes in a separate document that reflect the parts of the specified section that need work and constructive suggestion/direction for improvement. If phone consultation, the editor will explain over the phone what he/she feels is working and not working in the specified section and discuss with the author the best solutions. If notes in the manuscript, the editor will read through the specified section electronically and insert notes and comments providing specific feedback and direction attached to the exact areas in the manuscript that need work.

Other Considerations

Manuscript consultation is most useful for authors who like to work in sections or for authors who work best in closer contact with their editor where they can ask questions and get feedback as things come up. All time is tracked by the editor, and each section submitted will be billed the reading fee and a deposit on the consultation time predicted for completing that section.

Pricing

$0.003 per word for reading plus $75.00 per hour for feedback in whatever form the author chooses. Time is tracked by the editor and charged in 15-minute increments.
