Our heartfelt congratulations go out to the talented and irrepressible Chris Cander, who has just signed on with Jane Gelfman of Gelfman Schneider Literary Agents, Inc with a delightful first novel called Literally Everything. This suspenseful story follows a blocked novelist whose long-solid marriage is suddenly in turmoil. She is charmed by a mysterious, troubled man who turns out to be a muse with a mysterious, mystical past. Literally Everything is part paranormal adventure, part real-life romance about the ups and downs of long-lasting love and the illusions that sometimes threaten it.
The lead editor on the project was Renni Browne, who says “To introduce a character like Theodore into a totally believable and absorbing love story between a man and his wife is a risky thing to do, but Chris pulls it off beautifully.” Jesse Steele read a later draft and fell in love with the book and the characters right away.
We couldn’t be more excited for one of our clients than we are for Chris. She’s worked long and hard to get to this place. Renni says: “Brainstorming ideas about with her on the phone was great fun, and she absolutely got that when a scene was ‘really good,’ that meant we still had a level to go.” Now we’re hoping Literally Everything ends up exposed to virtually every reader who enjoys contemporary stories with paranormal elements and a female protagonist. They’ll be in for a real treat.
