Continuing our run of good news, it's my pleasure to announce that client Frank Fiore's new book, Cyberkill, has been released by Trapdoor Books. We worked on an early draft of the book, and Frank went on to polish it and find a publisher on his own. You can read an excerpt from Cyberkill, or watch the book trailer below.
CyberKill is the newest thriller by best-selling author and technologist Frank Fiore, whose non-fiction titles have more than 50,000 copies in print. Fans of Tom Clancy, James Patterson and Clive Cussler, will enjoy this twist on the Frankenstein myth. A brilliant programmer, Travis Cole, inadvertently creates "Dorian," an artificial intelligence that lives on the Internet. After Cole attempts to terminate his creation, Dorian stalks his young daughter through cyberspace in an attempt to reach Cole to seek revenge.
While we're thrilled for Frank, we're also pleased to see that there's a new publisher on the block. This is the second TED book to be picked up by a small press (Dora Machado's Stonewiser, from Mermaid Press, was the first), and it's heartening to see so many alternatives to the big New York publishers springing up. Houses like Mermaid and Trapdoor are more willing to take a chance on new, previously unpublished authors, and provide an outlet for niche fiction that hasn't previously existed. Trapdoor Books bills itself as a home for "geek
fiction", and as a self-described geek, I'm watching their release list with great interest.
