| Losing work |

Just a quick reminder that if you're working on a computer, it's a good idea to save your work frequently. Sites can log you out, programs can lock up, and systems can crash without warning. I just lost quite a bit of work because I didn't heed my own advice. If you're no good at remembering to save, try setting up the auto-save feature in your word processor. I always keep mine at 3 minutes or less because I'm terrible at saving regularly when I'm on a roll with writing. Nothing can kill a muse faster than having to recreate prose. If you're writing in a medium without an auto-save feature - an online form, a text editor, etc. - consider writing in a regular word processor and then copying your work over once it's done. Many a headache could be averted this way! A more substantive blog post will be up as soon as I'm done berating myself for this rather stupid mistake. In the meantime, since misery loves company, what's your worst tale of woe regarding data loss? |
