Overview

This full design service delivers final camera-ready formatting of your entire book interior, including:

• Front Matter (half-title page, title page, copyright page*, table of contents, and, if applicable, dedication, acknowledgements, preface, prologue, and/or introduction)
• Body Text, incorporating your desired fonts, columns, images, tables, etc.
• End Matter, as provided by author (epilogue, conclusion, afterword, end notes, appendix, bibliography, glossary, index**)

* ISBN purchasing and assignment is available as a separately billed service.
** Index generation is available as a separately billed service.

What To Expect

Each Book Layout and Design package includes:

• A session of initial phone consultation (up to 30 minutes) with the designer to help you decide on the best look, size, and layout for your book
• Generation one of the formatted book interior in PDF for your review and suggested changes
• E-mail consultation with designer to discuss proposed changes as needed
• Generation two of the book interior, reflecting your feedback given on Generation one
• Final output to PDF and to one publisher-specific format of your choice

Please note that this is not an editing service and no editing changes will be made to the text with Book Design and Layout. Your designer may, however, notify you if typos or grammatical errors exist in the final text and recommend further proofreading.

Pricing

We offer three different pricing tiers based on the complexity of the layout, the number of pictures or tables needed, and if text changes are likely to be required after layout is completed.

1. Budget Book Design & Layout Package

Our budget package is ideal for projects without interior illustrations or tables and whose overall design requirement is simple and straightforward. It's best for authors who do not expect to need to make changes or tweaks to the book's text after the initial formatting and layout decisions have been made.

• Initial half-hour consultation with your designer
• Mock-up of initial pages (front matter and one chapter)
• Complete book layout for your review and approval, followed by one round of formatting and layout changes, including up to 30 text changes/corrections*
• Final output in PDF to 1 printer of your choice and RTF file for optional e-book conversion

Price: $495

*Additional text and formatting changes, if required, are available and billed hourly at the discounted rate of $45 per hour.

2. Deluxe Book Design and Layout Package

Our deluxe package is for authors with graphics and more advanced design concepts, as well as authors who want the opportunity to make changes to the text at no additional cost once initial design decisions have been made.

• Initial half-hour consultation with your designer
• In-text placement of up to 10 images* (tables, charts, photographs, illustrations)
• Mock-up of initial pages (front matter and one chapter)
• 1st generation of the complete book layout for your review and approval, followed by a first round of formatting and layout changes
• 2nd generation of complete book, with an additional round of tweaking for formatting and up to 50 text changes/corrections**
• Final output in PDF to 1 printer of your choice and RTF file for optional e-book conversion

Price: $625

*Images beyond 10 may be included for $30 per image.

3. Premium Book Design and Layout Package

Our premium package includes all the features of the deluxe package, plus the following:

• One single assignment ISBN from R. R. Bowker*
• Up to a half hour consultation to help walk you through registering your ISBN
• A UPC bar code for placement on your book cover
