Who Moved My Buy Button? (If only it worked!)Posted by: Ross Browne on Mar 1, 2010 |

I just spent a little time at the just-launched http://www.whomovedmybuybutton.com/ and I must say I'm very pleased with the mission of this clever little site that takes on the noble cause of 'Keeping an eye on our friends at Amazon since Friday morning.'
The idea is as simple as it is timely: to help authors whose books are available on amazon.com keep track of whether or not the BUY NOW link is working and the book can actually be purchased.
The site is in beta and as of the time of this writing (3:20 mountain time on March 1st 2010). I was not able to register with the site to track purchase availability of TED's own Self-Editing For Fiction Writers. But I very much like the idea of this small but important bit of 'watchdog' functionality and it should be a welcome tool.
More on the controversy that surely must have inspired the development of this site can be found here, among other places. Meanwhile, kudos to the Author's Guild for sending the right message in their support of writers affected by amazon.com's questionable practices of late.
