Good week in the agent matchmaking program.Posted by: Karinya Funsett on Jun 12, 2009 |

Heck no.
It's good to cast a wide net when hunting for that agent (note that I said a wide net, not a net encompassing every agent that ever agented anywhere ever), and that wide net should include a mix of agent types - some newbies, some up-and-comers, some "mid-list" agents, and, yes, some Big Impressive Dream Agents. I call these the "hard to get, but worth it" agents. (*I'm contradicting my own advice here about why newer agents are often a better pick, but - well, haven't you figured out there are very few unbendable rules in the writing/publishing game yet?)
This week another one of our projects got a nibble from a "hard to get but worth it" agent. Will she flip for the project? Who knows, but we hope so.
It's a nice feeling when a big agent takes the time to notice you.
